Thuma Mina: International Ecumenical Hymnbook. A hymnbook published in 1995 intended as an aid for “Singing with our Partner Churches” -- building upon the worldwide ecumenical movement which has flourished over the past two decades between Christians in South and North. The book contains 294 hymns from more than 70 countries around the world; all of them have the texts printed in multiple languages. Only two disadvantages with this resource: 1) most times they’ve provided only melody lines and chords, not full scores; and 2) there are no accompanying background notes or annotations about any of the songs, so if you’ve never heard it before, you’re going to have to do a lot of guessing. However, it’s still probably the best collection of global church music to date. Write to: Strube Verlag, Pettenkoferstrasse 24, 80336 Munchen , Germany . Tel. (089)544 266 11; Fax 53 51 81.
